I asked my dad this question. He told me that he tried to make each day special at home by saying his prayers. He knows that saying his prayers will make the rest of his day go better. He also said that his day is special when he gets to spend good time with my mom. The knowledge of his children having the gospel in their lives is also something that makes his home life special.
